The Associated Press reported late Saturday night that 35-year-old Jaroslav Ruda died in a motorbike crash during a ride with his 12-year-old sister, who was seriously injured. The sister, Lyuba Ruda, broke her spine in four places.
The cable car accident occurred Saturday evening at the Black Iron Farms, located in the west of the country.
According to a report posted on a Prague television channel, the vehicle the family was riding in stopped on a piece of track and then accelerated, sending Ruda flying off his bicycle and falling onto the cable. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a blog post posted earlier this month, Lyuba told her parents that she planned to help her sister with horse training. She was eager to embark on that path with her brother and “if you are reading this, yes that means you guys are our priorities right now.”
Lyuba encouraged her parents, who are traveling in Europe, to stay in touch with her sister via social media, the blog said.
