Journalist got to meet the man who inspired her to enter the legal profession

Megan Thee Stallion — also known as Hermione Granger — has been dreaming of this day since she sat out of school with flu symptoms one day in January. The 17-year-old decided to become a lawyer because she felt “sick of life” and feeling like she wasn’t giving the world her best. “It was definitely a low point for me,” said the Queens, New York, native. “I didn’t know what to do. I did want to be an artist. I do art.” Because of her interest in art, she decided to take classes at the Art Institute of Manhattan and then attended law school at a branch in Yonkers. On Monday, the teen graduated from the New York law school, getting a hug from her hero, Stephen King. It was just a brief encounter but she wrote a letter to the master fiction writer and an email “when I got started.” Ms. Stallion wrote that she hoped for a picture so she can “show the world what a legal eagle I am.” “What a thrill to finally meet Stephen King and say thank you for encouraging me,” she wrote. On Monday, she received a reply from the author, and the excitement and relief of the teen was evident. “It’s been a lifetime of anticipation,” she said. “I did my share of crying, unfortunately.”
